Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 1 September 2026
Please read these terms before purchasing a listing or featured placement.

1. About these terms

These Terms & Conditions govern your use of Robertson Connect (robertsonconnect.co.za), operated by [Robertson Connect], and any paid listing, subscription or featured placement you purchase through the site. By completing a payment you agree to be bound by them. These terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

2. Definitions

  • "We", "us", "our" — Robertson Connect.

  • "You", "your" — the person or business creating a listing or making a purchase.

  • "Listing" — a business, job seeker, classified, or medical entry published on Robertson Connect.

  • "Boost" — a once-off paid featured placement, as described in §8.

  • "Content" — any text, image, or other material you submit to the platform.

3. Who can enter this agreement

You must be 18 or older to purchase a listing, subscription, or boost. If you're purchasing on behalf of a business, you confirm that you're authorised to represent that business and to bind it to these terms.

4. Listings

You are responsible for the accuracy of the business information you publish. Listings are reviewed and we may decline or remove any listing that is misleading, unlawful, or not a genuine Robertson-area business. Standard and Premium listings differ in the fields and features available.

If you use our AI-assisted tools to help draft or improve your listing (for example, suggested descriptions), you're responsible for reviewing and confirming the accuracy of anything published — AI-generated suggestions may occasionally be inaccurate, and publishing them is your decision.

By submitting content, you grant Robertson Connect a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, reproduce, and promote that content on the platform and in related marketing (for example, social media posts featuring your listing). You confirm you own the rights to, or have permission to use, everything you submit.

5. Acceptable use

You may not upload content you do not own the rights to, impersonate another business, or use the directory to send unsolicited marketing. We may suspend accounts that abuse the platform or its AI features.

In addition, listings, classifieds, job posts and other content must not include:

  • Illegal goods or services, including unlicensed firearms, ammunition or weapons; illicit drugs or drug paraphernalia; stolen goods; counterfeit or pirated goods; or products/services otherwise prohibited under South African law.

  • Sexual content or services, including adult services, escort services, or any content that sexualises, exploits, or endangers a minor. Any such content will be removed immediately and, where required by law, reported to the South African Police Service and/or the relevant authority.

  • Hate speech, harassment, or unlawful discrimination, including job listings that discriminate on grounds prohibited under the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act (PEPUDA) or the Employment Equity Act.

  • Scams and fraudulent schemes, including pyramid or Ponzi schemes, and job or investment listings that misrepresent the opportunity being offered.

  • Unlicensed regulated services, including medical, legal, or financial services offered without the required professional registration (e.g. HPCSA, FSCA, Legal Practice Council).

  • Protected or endangered wildlife products, including any goods restricted under CITES or South African conservation law.

  • Intellectual property infringement, including counterfeit branded goods or content that infringes another party's copyright or trademark.

  • Malicious content, including phishing links, malware, or content designed to deceive or harm site users.

  • Other people's personal information posted without their consent (for example, publishing a third party's private contact details in a classified ad).

We may reject, edit, or remove any listing that breaches these standards at any time, with or without notice, and without refund where the breach relates to prohibited content described above.

6. Subscriptions and billing

Premium and Standard paid listings are recurring subscriptions billed through PayFast. The amount shown at checkout is charged today and again automatically at the start of each billing period until you cancel.

Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice, sent to the email address on your account, and will apply from your next billing date. If you don't agree to a price change, you may cancel before it takes effect in line with §7.

7. Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your dashboard. Cancellation stops future billing; your listing remains on its current plan until the end of the billing period already paid for, after which it reverts to a free Standard listing. Part-periods are not refunded.

8. Featured placements (boosts)

Boost placements are once-off payments for a fixed period of featured placement. They do not renew automatically. Placement is subject to available slots and admin approval; if a boost is declined after payment we will refund it in full. Boosts may be revoked without refund if the listing breaches these terms.

9. Your right to cancel a purchase (cooling-off)

Under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, you may generally have the right to cancel an electronic purchase within 7 days without reason or penalty. Because Robertson Connect listings and boosts typically begin being reviewed or go live shortly after payment (at your request), this cooling-off right may not extend to purchases where the service has already commenced with your consent.

10. Payments

All payments are processed by PayFast. We do not store your card details. Amounts are in South African Rand and include VAT where applicable. Failed recurring payments may result in your listing being deactivated until payment succeeds.

Payment is processed through PayFast's secure, encrypted payment gateway. We keep a record of your transaction reference, amount, and status, as described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Intellectual property

The Robertson Connect name, logo, website design, and underlying software are our property (or licensed to us) and may not be copied, reproduced, or used without our permission. This doesn't affect your ownership of the content you submit, subject to the licence you grant us in §4.

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account or listing, with or without notice, if you breach these terms, if your listing breaches our acceptable use rules (§5), if payment fails and isn't resolved within a reasonable period, or if we reasonably believe your account is being used fraudulently or abusively.

If we terminate your account for breach of these terms, you're not entitled to a refund for the remaining period of any active subscription or boost. If we terminate your account for reasons unrelated to any breach on your part, we'll refund any unused portion of a current billing period or boost at our discretion.

You may close your account at any time; this has the same effect as cancellation under §7.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Robertson Connect harmless against any claim, loss, or damage arising from content you've published, your breach of these terms, or your breach of any law, including claims brought by third parties as a result of your listing.

14. Disclaimers

Robertson Connect is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We don't guarantee that the site will be available uninterrupted or error-free, and we may need to take the platform down temporarily for maintenance or updates.

AI-powered search and listing-assistance features are provided to help, not as a guarantee of accuracy — search matches and AI suggestions may occasionally be incomplete or incorrect.

15. Liability

Robertson Connect is a directory. We do not guarantee enquiries, sales, or any particular level of exposure, and we are not a party to dealings between businesses and visitors. Our liability is limited to the fees you paid in the preceding 12 months.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under South African law, including liability arising from our own gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or rights you hold as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act.

16. Dispute resolution and governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Before pursuing formal legal action, we encourage you to contact us via the Support page so we can try to resolve the issue directly. If you're a consumer as defined under the Consumer Protection Act, you retain the right to refer a dispute to the National Consumer Commission or another applicable consumer forum. Subject to that, disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Where changes are material, we'll notify you by email or an in-app notice at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use Robertson Connect after that point means you accept the updated terms.

18. General

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, make up the entire agreement between you and Robertson Connect regarding your use of the platform. We may assign these terms (for example, if the business is sold or restructured); you may not assign your account without our consent. Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control (force majeure).

19. Contact

Questions about these terms or your billing can be sent through the Support page in your dashboard, or to info@robertsonconnect.co.za.
